"Should a athletes legacy be nothing more than kicking or catching a ball then the oppurtunity to extend a sporting career and affect influence throughout the community is lost.I choose to use my profile and passion to remind people that the environment requires dedicated support and innovation in order to secure its worth for future generations" Glenn Manton, AFL
Glenn Manton is far from your average athlete!
Having played senior AFL football for both Carlton and Essendon for
12 years, (a member of the AFL’S 200 Club/1995 Premiership
player/Carlton life member), which saw him play in two Grand Finals
and three night premierships, Glenn embarked on a new sporting
quest involving both snow and speed in 2004. Whilst Glenn failed to
qualify, as part of an Australian 4-man bobsleigh team, for the
2006 Winter Olympics in Torino Italy he had quite a journey trying
to get there.
Currently he works freelance on television, regularly on 3RRR and
writes weekly columns for his own website www.glennmanton.com. He has also
produced a highly regarded DVD documenting the life of Australian
motoring great Peter Brock amongst two other DVD titles.
Known throughout the wider community for his charity-based work (Whitelion est. 1999 and Red Dust Role Models where he works within Indigenous Australia) Glenn strikes an affinity with a large demographic. His ability to speak publicly to corporate groups or school aged youth is renowned.
Glenn is also an MC in demand working with many and varied organisations and businesses. With a degree in Education, two top-selling books in Dead Bolt 2004 (semi autobiography) and Mongrel Punts 2006 and an award winning (Melb International CF) ‘The Spray’ under his belt Glenn continually shows that he is more than just a sportsperson.
