Funding

The primary ‘objective’ of Sport 4 the Environment is to assist sporting organisations to take direct control of their environmental solution.

In order to manage their sustainability, sporting organisations need financial support.

Sport 4 the Environment is undertaking the formation of a fund which will provide direct financial support for sporting organisations. The Sport 4 the Environment fund will provide the difference (i.e. The Gap) between government (Federal, State and Local) grants and the total amount required for the environmental project, thereby ensuring that the sporting club is not out of pocket.

As part of the education and eco-footprint process, Sport 4 the Environment will provide direct assistance to sporting organisations in applying for and obtaining government grants.  A strict application process has been developed by Sport 4 the Environment to ensure that funds are allocated appropriately and those projects are completed and delivered according to the environmental requirements.

Fund Management and Contributions

The corporate governance for the fund will be established by Sport 4 the Environment in conjunction with Deloitte. Strict guidelines will be developed and ATO approval will be sought for tax deductibility status and income tax exempt status.

Income for the Sport 4 the Environment Fund will be generated from four key areas:

(i)    Corporate – Corporate partnership packages will be tailored to suit the specific needs of each corporation, but will include branding, marketing and CSR outcomes. Sport 4 the Environment will provide corporations with an opportunity to align themselves with sport at all levels, whilst assisting the delivery of a tangible legacy in the sporting community.

(ii)  Government – funding contributions will be sort from the federal, state and local government for support for the education and eco-footprint platforms of Sport 4 the Environment.

(iii) Community – Sport 4 the Environment will develop a range of community fundraising initiatives. These initiatives will be linked to the activities of the annual Sport 4 the Environment week – Major event, functions and Sport 4 the Environment merchandise.

(iv) Commercial – Sport 4 the Environment will enter into a series of commercial relationships whereby corporations will develop programs that will generate direct royalties or returns to Sport 4 the Environment for use of the name, branding and/or athlete appearances. Sport 4 the Environment will also offer commercial arrangements with suppliers, manufacturers and tradespeople who may wish to promote their “environmental” products or services to the participating clubs.
