Sport 4 the Environment (S4E) has been designed to create an umbrella position in Australian sport that communicates with, and proactively encourages, all sporting organisations to develop and implement environmental change.
Australia’s greatest Athletes are providing leadership for this project, giving it credibility, making it attractive to sports organisations, corporations, the public and the media – all combining to generate serious outcomes that will make sport in Australia sustainable.
The impact of global warming and environmental change has been significant on the sporting world.
- Skiing events
being cancelled due to a lack of snow
- Football grounds, tennis courts and
golf courses being unusable due to drought
- Hockey, cricket, rugby and soccer
clubs being forced into recess due to flooding
Sport 4 the Environment will provide direction and tangible solutions that will enable Australian sporting organisations to be sustainable and continue the rich traditions of providing opportunities for all in this sports mad community.
S4E Board
At the commencement of 2007, with sustainability and the environment now a key global issue, a steering committee of influential people was formed to develop and implement the Sport 4 the Environment project.
The members of the Board provide exceptional insights into all aspects of the project and have developed the framework, business model and partnership program.
